French shoppers have been getting a break on GTA 6, according to GTA BOOM, which reported this week that retailers there have been undercutting each other on price. Rockstar's suggested retail price in France sits at €79.99, but outlets including Fnac and Micromania dropped the Standard Edition to roughly €60 to win customers, with Amazon France eventually matching the cut before running out of physical copies to sell.
GTA BOOM points out that "sold out" doesn't mean much here, since the physical edition is just a box with a download code — there's no disc supply to run dry. What actually ran out was Amazon's allocation at that discounted price, not the game itself, which will remain available digitally at launch.
The outlet frames this as a temporary quirk of retail competition that's already fading industry-wide, noting Sony has confirmed it will end physical disc production for new PlayStation games in 2028. For now, French buyers have a legitimate way to save around €20, but the underlying dynamic that makes it possible won't be around much longer.
