GTA VI: Everything We Know So Far

A living dossier on Grand Theft Auto VI. We keep this guide current as new trailers, official statements and credible leaks surface — every claim is labelled fact or speculation.

Last updated: July 2026

Setting: the state of Leonida

GTA VI returns to a modern, sprawling reimagining of Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida — neon coastline, swamps and grasslands. Rockstar has officially named several regions beyond Vice City itself: Ocean Drive, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Independent size estimates from trailer analysis put the map at roughly 2 to 2.7x the size of Los Santos from GTA V — a widely repeated figure, but not one Rockstar has confirmed with a number of its own.

Dual protagonists: Lucia & Jason

For the first time in the series, players follow a duo — Lucia Caminos and her partner Jason Duval — in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal partnership confirmed by the official reveal trailer. Lucia was raised fighting by her father and did time in Leonida Penitentiary over loyalty to family; she's the more reckless, driven half of the pair. Jason works Leonida Keys drug routes and lives rent-free at supporting character Brian Heder's beach house — his Ultimate Edition sidearm carries a "Sua Sponte" engraving (the U.S. Army Ranger Regiment's motto), which is the source of a popular fan theory that he has a military past.

Release date, editions & platforms

Rockstar has confirmed a release of November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, after two delays — the game was originally targeted for fall 2025, pushed to May 26, 2026, then to its current date. Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026: a Standard Edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition, plus a free Vintage Vice City Pack bundled with all pre-orders made before November 20. Digital pre-orders also include one free month of GTA+. A PC version has not been announced but is widely expected to follow, as with every prior entry.

Trailers released so far

Rockstar has published two official trailers. Trailer 1 first confirmed Vice City's return, the dual-protagonist setup, and the game's tone. Trailer 2 went further into gameplay-adjacent footage and world detail, and both have been picked apart shot-by-shot by the community — see our Trailer Breakdown for the full timestamped rundown of both.

Ultimate Edition exclusive content

Rockstar has officially detailed the Ultimate Edition's exclusive items, unlocked progressively as the story advances rather than handed over upfront. Confirmed vehicles include the '95 Grotti Cheetah, a modded Vapid Ganado pickup, the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a pink-and-blue Shitzu Squalo speedboat, the Dinka Enduro motorcycle, and a 1955 Vapid Stanier (part of the separate Vintage Vice City pre-order pack). Confirmed weapons are the matched his-and-hers Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol, and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol. Confirmed exclusive venues are Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, One-Eyed Willie's, Electric Fang Tattoo and the Stock 305 clothing store. We've since sourced official Rockstar/Sony press photos for most of these — check the vehicle, weapon and property pages linked from our database for the real look of each item, not just our pre-release stat estimates.

Supporting cast spotted so far

Beyond Lucia and Jason, official cover art and trailer footage have put names to a handful of recurring supporting characters: Boobie Ike, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder (whose beach house Jason is staying at). Full profiles for all five are in our Characters database.

What's confirmed vs. still rumored

Confirmed by Rockstar directly: the setting, the dual protagonists, the release date and editions, the two trailers, and the full Ultimate Edition item list above. Still unconfirmed rumor or community estimate, not Rockstar statements: the exact map size multiplier, in-game radio station lineup, install size, and a third trailer's release window. Our Leak Tracker sorts every claim we track by exactly this kind of confidence level, updated as new information surfaces.
